NEW DILLA ALBUM TO COME OUT THIS SUMMER!

Twit This!

Like Tupac, J Dilla’s prolific creative habits resulted in a slew of unreleased material left behind in the wake of his passing. According to Pitchfork, an album of some of these unreleased beats entitled Jay $tay Paid is scheduled for a June 2nd release on Nature Sounds Records. The album is executive produced by Dilla’s mother, Maureen Yancey aka Ma Dukes.

“It wasn’t rushed, and it wasn’t haphazard,” she says. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. It’s mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”

Dilla’s idol, Pete Rock, is handling the mixing and arrangement of the album’s 28 tracks. The album mostly consists of instrumentals, however a handful of Dilla friendly collaborators such as Raekwon, DOOM, and Black Thought are contributing vocals to the project

Tupac To Drop New Album "One Nation" will feature Biggie Collaboration

Twit This!
One Nation will feature a collaboration with Biggie

Many rappers claim to work hard, but none seems to have had more energy to get busy like the late rapper Tupac Shakur. And to prove it, the deceased emcee is slated to drop another (you read right) album that was reportedly done to smooth over the West Coast’ tension with the East.

In 1996, Pac teamed up with Boot Camp Click to work on the album, which will be called One Nation. The project was one of the rapper’s ways of showing media he wasn’t a bully, during the height of his beef with the Notorious B.I.G. After his murder September of that year, the album was shelved for years. A.E.G. has since acquired the rights of the 18-track project.

One Nation features appearances by Tha Outlawz, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Greg Nice, Big Daddy Kane, and the Notorious B.I.G.

It's scheduled to be released March 20, through iTunes.

Reflection Eternal - "Internet Connection" feat. Bootsy Collins

Twit This!
Kweli and Hi-Tek are in the studio working hard on their long-awaited second album. They wanted to let all their friends online know they've linked back up, so they made this ode to technology, with a throwback funk feel to it. The legendary Bootsy Collins was chillin in the studio with Hi-Tek and wanted to jump on the song as well. This is just some different stuff to let y'all know they're on the way back.

Sha Money Announces 3rd Annual One Stop Shop Producer Conference

Former G-Unit Records president, Sha Money XL, recently announced details on his third annual One Stop Shop Producer Conference.

Set to go down on May 9-10th in Phoenix, Arizona’s Hyatt Hotel, the event is focused on giving aspiring producers a chance to learn about the business and showcase their talent through a beat battle, educational panels, access to new technology and appearances by some of the biggest names in hip-hop.

This year’s conference will also feature an emphasis on the music video business with a panel consisting of respected directors Rik Cordero, Lil X and Chris Robinson.

In addition to the Visual Image Panel, there will be a Power Play Panel with Violator Management founder and 50 Cent Manager Chris Lighty, Disturbing The Peace’s Chaka Zulu and Bryan Leach of Polo Grounds Music.

“This year I took requests from my site to see just who the public wanted present at the 2009 One Stop Shop” Sha Money XL said in a press release. “The most feedback received from the people, is that they want more chances to play there music, they want one on one attention, and we plan to do that this year, it’s going to be more interactive, more surprise battles, and spotlights.”

While no rap heavyweights have been announced yet, past attendees have included DJ Premier, Swizz Beats, No ID, DJ Toomp, Mr. Porter, Don Cannon and this year expect to see Polow Da Don, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin, Drumma Boy, Ron Browz and DJ Khalil.

Beats By Dr. Dre

“Beats By Dre” has released in ear earphones late last year. So if the headphones were a bit much, don’t worry you can still get the same sound quality in ear!

“People aren’t hearing all the music. Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can’t really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can’t handle bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn’t move you. ” - dr. dre
